Camp Details

Need a new challenge? How about “Big Day Training” with an adventure twist? Join Ultraman World Champion Gordo Byrn & Jeff “Dr. J” Shilt on the quiet backroads of pristine Idaho as they traverse over portions of the most beautiful scenery in the United States, the Sawtooth and Cascade Mountain ranges.

Why Boise, “Bumps,” & Blacktop? In an effort to see the beautiful countryside and avoid busy vacation highways during the summer months, approximately 50% of the cycling will be done on maintained gravel roads with the remaining 50% on paved roads. Imagine Paris-Roubaix on steroids! Multiple Ironman Champion Chris “Big Sexy” McDonald helped recon the course and says this will be an epic training camp that you won’t want to miss. Of course, this was following his wheel while he was on his aerobars and TT bike traveling 30 mph on the washboard cobbles with a big smile on his face.

The camp will start and end in Boise. It will travel to the resort towns of McCall, Stanley and Sun Valley before returning to Boise. Cycling is the camp emphasis, but the itinerary allows opportunities to swim and run. Rides range from 60 - 130 miles, including high passes over Galena Summit (elevation 8,700ft). Cycling routes include graded gravel roads and smooth blacktop. Three of the five days will include 6-7 hour rides. Cyclecross bikes are recommended, however road bikes will be suffice with a durable wheel set. It's five days devoted soley to "big day" training and recovery. This method of training is an excellent way to get a boost for summer "A" races - train like a PRO!
